Historically, the Society has held three main public events a year, plus a number of other smaller members' events. For dates and times of events, along with listings of several other societies' events that include Heavy Horses in the lineup, please click on the link to 'Upcoming Events' in the left-hand menu. Below is a summary of the events that the Society holds each year.

The Spring Working: A non-competitive gathering where young and novice horses can be introduced to a relaxed public occasion and other working horses can be gently brought back ready for the event season. Many different hose-drawn implements are in use and on show, and experienced horsemen are available to offer advice to newcomers. (From 2013 this has been combined with the annual Ploughing Match).

The Annual Show: The signature event in the Society calender, the Annual Show is held on the last weekend in September. It features in hand, harness and turnout classes, and is host to the West of England In Hand and Harness Championships. It also includes many trade stands, craft stalls, children's activities, displays, vintage vehicles, and other attractions.

Ploughing Match: The last major event in the Society calender, the ploughing match includes long turn and short turn furrow, team, pair and singles, and noncompetitive entries. (From 2013 this event has been amalgamated with the Spring Working).

In addition, the Society has Open Days, quiz nights, skittles evenings, race nights, and an Annual Dinner. The Annual General Meeting is usually held in February.
