Heartbleed logoSome of you may have come across the recent media hooha over the 'Heartbleed' vulnerability. I would like to assure users of this site that this site is safe. Firstly, the site does not and has never used any of the vulnerable parts of the software. Secondly, the servers for the site have been patched anyway, so that, should the site ever use the relevant software in the future, it will not have the vulnerability.

For those who use social media sites (such as Facebook, Flickr and YouTube), who may be affected, the web hosts for the WHHS website offer a test facility here. Just copy and paste the website address for any site you are uncertain of. Most banks and financial institutions have never used the vulnerable software and are safe. Note that there is little point in changing your passwords until AFTER a vulnerable site has been patched. If a site shows as being safe now, it may be wise to change your password in case it was vulnerable in the past.
