Wadworth logo

Wadworth & Co Ltd of Devizes are one of only a smll handful of breweries in the UK that make deliveries using horse-drawn drays, and they have been a stalwart supporter of the Shire Horse. The Society is immensely grateful for their sponsorship of the West of England Championships, which they have provided for many years.

The brewery was founded in 1875, and has a long and enviable tradition in the brewing of fine beers. The present Northgate Brewery was designed and built by Henry Wadworth in 1885, and is still run as a family business. Many of the original brewing techniques and closely guarded recipes are still employed today, and to preserve the high standards laid down by the founders, great care is naturally taken to select only the finest malt, hops and yeast for the brewing process. This ensures that customers can rely on consistency and superb taste with all Wadworth products. Wadworth produce the popular 6X beer as well as many other year-round and seasonal brews.

Wadworth are still based in Devizes, where their three Shire horses, Prince, Monty and Max, are stabled and make their deliveries. There is a Visitor Center, which is open all year round from Monday to Saturday and also open on Sundays in the summer.
